Couples Snowy Session in the Sierra Nevada
There’s something magical about the Sierra Nevada mountains in winter—snow-covered peaks, crisp mountain air, and an unmistakable sense of peace. But when you add a couple of truly amazing people and their lovable, snow-loving mastiff, Magnum, to the mix, the magic turns into pure fun. So lets talk about this snowy couples session that really has my heart.
This recent couples session was an absolute joy to photograph. I don’t just say that because of the stunning winter landscape, but because of the incredible chemistry between the couple. I mean we had a ton of fun and belly laughs. Their laughter echoed through the mountains and it felt like they were the only ones in the world.
A Moment For The Pup
But let’s not forget Magnum— (which he would never allow) this big, lovable mastiff brought an extra layer of fun and chaos to the session. If I’m being honest, every good snowy couples session has a doggo that adds the flare. The second we arrived in the snow, Magnum’s tail went into overdrive. He was running around diving into the snowbanks. I am actually envious of how swiftly this pup can move through the snow! We were knee deep in snow while we made our way to the shooting location but his inner sled dog was showing. His excitement was contagious!!
The whole session was filled with spontaneous moments—genuine smiles, playful banter, and epic falls as we occasionally missed our steps.. it was A LOT of snow, okay?
Even though the Sierra Nevada Mountains were cold and the wind was brisk, there was a warmth between them that made the chill almost nonexistent. Their laughter was the soundtrack to the session, and it really showed through the images.
As a photographer, capturing that kind of joy is what makes sessions so special. It wasn’t about the perfect pose or the flawless shot. It was about the connection, the laughter, and the pure, unfiltered happiness that this couple radiated.
